Why painted cabinets fail, and why ours do not
Anyone can brush paint onto a cabinet door. The reason most DIY and low-bid cabinet jobs chip within a year is that the prep and the products were wrong. Kitchen cabinets carry years of cooking grease, hand oils, and cleaning residue, and paint will not bond to any of it. Our process is built around adhesion and durability.
- Degrease. Every door, drawer front, and box is cleaned with a commercial degreaser, then rinsed.
- Remove and label. Doors, drawers, and hardware come off and are labeled so everything goes back in the right spot.
- Sand. Scuff-sanded to break the old finish and give the primer something to grip.
- Fill and repair. Old hardware holes filled if you are changing pulls. Dings and grain filled on request.
- Bonding primer. A shellac- or urethane-based bonding primer that sticks to oak, thermofoil, laminate, and previously finished wood.
- Sprayed finish. Two coats of a hardened cabinet enamel or waterborne alkyd, sprayed for a smooth finish with no brush marks.
- Cure and rehang. Doors cure flat before rehanging with adjusted hinges and new or reinstalled hardware.

Oak, cherry, and the 1990s and 2000s kitchen
Palm Beach County and Broward have a huge stock of homes from the 1980s through 2000s with solid wood raised-panel cabinets in honey oak or cherry. They are well built and worth keeping. Painted a clean white or soft gray with a modern pull, they look like a new kitchen. Oak grain can be filled for a smoother look or left visible for texture.
Two-tone kitchens and islands
A dark green, navy, or charcoal island with white perimeter cabinets is the most requested look right now, and it is an easy way to add depth without repainting everything.
Humidity and condo kitchens
In condos and coastal homes, cabinet finishes see constant humidity. We use a hardened enamel that resists moisture and blocking so doors do not stick to the frames in August.
Bathroom vanities
Vanities take more water and steam than any other cabinet. Same process, same durable finish, usually done in a day or two.
